Hello and welcome - here you'll find my patterns, tutorials, tips and tricks to help make your projects perfect.
Who am I?
My name is Lynne Rowe and I'm a freelance knitting and crochet designer, technical editor and author. I can't imagine a day without picking up my needles or hook and creating something fab and funky.
When did I learn to knit and crochet?
I learned the basics when I was a small girl, from my lovely Nan who crocheted so fast that I was totally mesmerised by her hook swiftly zipping in and out of her work. I still learn new things every week either from others in person, or online, even if it’s just a better way to fasten off, or a simpler way to create patterns and textures. Learning new skills also opens up new pathways in your brain and can stimulate the growth of new brain cells, so it’s great that learning to knit and crochet can help you keep an active mind as you grow older.
I teach knit and crochet locally in Cheshire, as I feel it's really important to pass these skills on. I love to see my students feeling proud and amazed at their achievements. There seems to be a never ending line of people wanting to learn to crochet (and knit) so it keeps me busy and I’ve made lots of new friends through my classes. It makes me really happy to pass on my skills so that others are confident to be creative too.
I love to create designs that help you relax and de-stress. These include simple, rhythmic and meditative stitches that can help you maintain your focus and improve your well-being. If you come along to one of my Knitting for Calm workshops, I will teach you beneficial exercises that will help you to become a more mindful knitted or crocheter and ultimately help you to use your crafting as a tool to de-stress.
I design simple and stylish knitting and crochet projects which are perfect for using up odd balls of yarn and reducing wastage, or great for using up that gorgeous skein of yarn you've been saving for something special. My previous environmental career is still close to my heart and I reuse and recycle yarns as much as possible, whilst keeping my waste yarns to a minimum
I design for many UK knitting magazines and publications, including Let's Get Crafting, Let's Knit, Inside Crochet and Woman's Weekly, and I was proud to be a columnist for Crochet Now Magazine's first year.
My dream is to design a huge library of knit and crochet patterns, to write articles for magazines and to publish books. It's a slow process, and really hard work, but I'll get there in the end. So far, I've authored five knitting and crochet titles, including:
"Fun Hats"; "Once Upon a Time in Crochet"; 20 to make Crochet Mandalas"; Take Two - Crochet" and "Knit Yourself Calm" . You can buy some of my books in my online shop here, and I would be more than happy to sign your copy - just leave me a note with your purchase.
I'm slowly updating my patterns on Ravelry, Love Knitting and in my Etsy shop, so feel free to take a look:
I hope my patterns inspire you to be creative or to learn a new skill, but be warned - knitting and crochet is addictive!!!If you have any questions, you can contact me at: firstname.lastname@example.org or use the form below.
